DAY 1:

Arrival in Bogotá and transfer to your hotel

 

Upon arrival in Bogotá, the vibrant capital of Colombia located 2,640 meters above sea level, you will be greeted by our local guide. A private transfer to your hotel will then be provided, along with check-in and some time to relax after your long flight. Depending on your arrival time, you can begin exploring the atmosphere of this fascinating city, where colonial history blends seamlessly with modernity and Colombian culture.

DAY 2:

City tour of Bogotá

 

After breakfast, we'll discover Bogotá's main attractions with our guide. We'll explore the historic La Candelaria neighborhood, with its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial facades, and plazas steeped in history. We'll visit the famous Gold Museum and take the cable car or funicular up Monserrate Hill, where we'll enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the capital. Since it's Sunday, we'll also experience the unique atmosphere of the traditional Ciclovía, when many of the main avenues are closed to traffic and filled with pedestrians, cyclists, and cultural activities.

DAY 3:

Heading to the Heart of Putumayo

 

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Puerto Asís, gateway to the lush Amazonian region of Putumayo. Upon arrival, we will visit Finca La Fortuna, a beautiful sustainable tourism project surrounded by rainforest and breathtaking landscapes.

 

During the visit, we will learn about the lifestyle of the local communities, tour the farm accompanied by its hosts, and discover the region's natural wealth, with its lush vegetation, traditional crops, and great biodiversity. It will be an excellent opportunity to understand the close relationship between the inhabitants of Putumayo and nature, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the Amazonian countryside, and experience an authentic first encounter with this fascinating region of southern Colombia.

 

At the end of the visit, transfer to the hotel in Puerto Asís, accommodation and time to rest before continuing our adventure through the Colombian Amazon.

DAY 4:

Adventure on the Caquetá River

 

After breakfast, we'll depart for Puerto Limón, traveling through the lush landscapes of the Colombian Amazon. There, an exciting adventure awaits us on the Caquetá River, one of Colombia's great Amazonian rivers.

 

We'll enjoy a fun tubing experience, drifting along the gentle current while taking in the rainforest, breathtaking landscapes, and extraordinary biodiversity surrounding the river. It will be the perfect opportunity to connect with nature and soak up the unique atmosphere of this region.

 

After the activity, we will continue our road trip to Mocoa, the capital of the Putumayo department. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel, check-in, and free time to rest and prepare for our upcoming experiences in the heart of the Colombian Amazon.

DAY 5:

End of the World and an encounter with ancestral wisdom

 

After breakfast, we'll hike through the jungle to the spectacular Fin del Mundo waterfall, one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in Putumayo. During the hike, we'll enjoy lush vegetation, natural viewpoints, and the rich flora and fauna of the Amazon rainforest, until we reach the imposing waterfall, where we'll have time to admire the scenery and connect with nature.

 

In the afternoon, we will have a profoundly spiritual experience with Taita José, a renowned leader and wise elder of the Inga community. We will participate in a traditional ceremony where we will learn about the Amazonian worldview, sacred plants, and ancestral medicine, in a space of respect, reflection, and connection with the ancient indigenous traditions of Putumayo.

 

Return to the hotel and accommodation in Mocoa.

DAY 6:

From the Putumayo jungle to the Magdalena Strait and San Agustín

 

After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to Mocoa and embark on a spectacular road trip to San Agustín, leaving behind the lush Putumayo rainforest and gradually ascending into the verdant mountain landscapes of the Huila department. Along the way, we'll enjoy an extraordinary succession of forests, rivers, waterfalls, deep valleys, and panoramic views of the Colombian Andes.

 

As we approach San Agustín, we'll visit the impressive Magdalena Strait, one of the most striking natural wonders in the region. Here, the Magdalena River, Colombia's most important river, winds its way through enormous rock formations, becoming compressed into a narrow passage just a few meters wide. We'll have time to walk around, contemplate the power of the water, and enjoy this beautiful natural landscape.

 

After the visit, we will continue to San Agustín, surrounded by green mountains and known for housing one of the most fascinating archaeological heritages in South America. Arrival at the hotel, check-in, and rest.

DAY 7:

Following the footsteps of an ancient civilization in San Agustín

 

After breakfast, we'll spend the day discovering the great archaeological treasures of San Agustín, one of Colombia's most fascinating pre-Columbian regions. We'll visit the San Agustín Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where ancient cultures left an extraordinary legacy of monumental sculptures, ceremonial tombs, and mysterious figures carved in stone.

 

We will explore some of its most emblematic sites, such as Mesitas A, B, and C, the Lavapatas Fountain, and the Lavapatas Hill, from where we will enjoy magnificent views of the mountains and the Magdalena River valley. Throughout the visit, we will learn the meaning of its enigmatic statues, representations of human beings, animals, and mythical creatures linked to the spiritual and funerary world.

 

It will be a day to delve into the mysteries of a civilization that flourished in these mountains long before the arrival of the Spanish, and whose history continues to raise many questions. At the end of the visit, we will return to San Agustín, with time to rest and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of this charming corner of southern Colombia.

DAY 8:

From the green Andes to the fascinating Tatacoa Desert

 

After breakfast, we'll bid farewell to San Agustín, a land of mysterious pre-Columbian cultures and lush Andean landscapes, to embark on a fascinating journey to the Tatacoa Desert. Along the way, we'll traverse diverse landscapes of the Huila department, observing how the verdant mountains, cultivated fields, and abundant vegetation gradually give way to a warmer, drier, and more striking environment.

 

As we approach our destination, the landscape transforms completely, revealing one of Colombia's most unique natural settings. The Tatacoa Desert welcomes us with its spectacular eroded formations, small canyons, natural labyrinths, and an extraordinary combination of reddish, ochre, and gray hues. Upon arrival, we'll settle into our accommodations in the area, surrounded by the tranquility and beauty of this almost otherworldly landscape, where the silence, the vast horizons, and the clear skies create a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

DAY 9:

From the Tatacoa Desert to the heart of the Coffee Region

 

In the morning, we'll continue exploring the extraordinary landscapes of the Tatacoa Desert, one of Colombia's most stunning natural wonders. We'll traverse its eroded formations, small canyons, and natural labyrinths, visiting iconic areas like El Cuzco, characterized by its intense reddish hues, and Los Hoyos, where gray landscapes and curious shapes sculpted over thousands of years by wind and water predominate. We'll enjoy time to walk, take photographs, and contemplate the immensity of this unique landscape.

 

After the visit, we'll say goodbye to the Tatacoa Desert and embark on a journey to Colombia's Coffee Region. During the trip, the scenery will change completely once again: we'll leave behind the arid lands of Huila and gradually enter a region of mountains covered in vegetation, coffee plantations, and small, traditional villages.

 

At the end of the day, we'll arrive in Salento, one of the most charming towns in Quindío, famous for its colorful houses, traditional balconies, and typical coffee-growing atmosphere. We'll spend the night relaxing after a day of striking contrasts between the desert and the verdant mountains of the Colombian Andes.

DAY 10:

Among giant palm trees and the aromas of coffee

 

After breakfast, we'll head to the spectacular Cocora Valley, home to the wax palm, Colombia's national tree and the tallest palm tree in the world. We'll hike through this breathtaking Andean landscape, surrounded by mist-shrouded mountains, verdant meadows, and cloud forests, enjoying one of the country's most iconic natural settings.

 

In the afternoon, we'll visit the traditional Finca Ocaso, where we'll learn about the entire Colombian coffee production process, from cultivation and harvesting to roasting and preparing the perfect cup. We'll conclude the experience with a specialty coffee tasting while discovering the secrets of one of Colombia's most iconic products.

 

Return to Salento and accommodation.

DAY 11:

Heading to Medellín, the city of eternal spring

 

After breakfast, we'll transfer to Pereira Airport for our flight to Medellín, known as the City of Eternal Spring. Upon arrival, we'll transfer to our hotel and have free time to begin exploring one of Latin America's most innovative cities, famous for its pleasant climate, urban transformation, and the warmth of its people. Overnight stay.

DAY 12:

Rebirth of Medellín

 

After breakfast, we'll take a guided tour of Medellín, a city that has become a symbol of innovation and urban transformation. We'll discover its main attractions, such as Botero Plaza, where the famous sculptures of artist Fernando Botero are exhibited, the historic center, and the modern transportation system that has revolutionized the city's mobility.

 

We will also visit Comuna 13, one of Medellín's most iconic neighborhoods, now renowned for its colorful graffiti, artistic expressions, music, and outdoor escalators. Wandering its streets, we will learn about its transformation and the resilient spirit of its community.

 

At the end of the tour, return to the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 13:

Guatapé and the Peñol Rock – heading to the Colombian Caribbean

 

After breakfast, we'll depart from Medellín for one of Antioquia's most picturesque destinations: Guatapé. During the journey, we'll enjoy the verdant mountain scenery until we reach the impressive Piedra del Peñol, a gigantic monolith that rises above a spectacular landscape of lakes and islands. Those who wish can climb its more than 700 steps to enjoy one of Colombia's most famous panoramic views.

 

We'll continue to the colorful town of Guatapé, known for its houses decorated with traditional baseboards, balconies overflowing with flowers, and lively streets. We'll stroll through its charming historic center and have time to soak up the local atmosphere and enjoy the views of the reservoir.

 

At the appointed time, we will return to Medellín and continue to the airport to catch our flight to Santa Marta. Upon arrival in the Colombian Caribbean, we will transfer to our hotel and check into our accommodations. We leave behind the mountains of Antioquia to begin a new leg of our journey through the Caribbean Sea, the rainforest, and the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Playa Cristal - a paradise in Tayrona

 

After breakfast, we'll head to Tayrona National Natural Park, where we'll board a boat to the spectacular Playa Cristal, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Colombian Caribbean. Its crystal-clear waters, white sand, and coral reefs make it an ideal place to relax, swim, or snorkel.

 

We will enjoy free time to contemplate this privileged natural environment, surrounded by the lush vegetation of Tayrona National Park and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. At the end of the excursion, we will return to Santa Marta and check into our hotel.

DAY 15:

Cape San Juan - the icon of Tayrona

 

After breakfast, we'll head to Tayrona National Natural Park for a hike along trails surrounded by rainforest, where we'll have the opportunity to observe the extraordinary flora and fauna of this unique ecosystem. During the hike, we'll pass by idyllic beaches such as Arrecifes, La Piscina, and Cabo San Juan, the park's most iconic spot.

 

In Cabo San Juan, we'll enjoy free time to relax, swim in the warm Caribbean waters, and admire one of Colombia's most photographed landscapes, where the rainforest meets the crystal-clear sea. After the excursion, we'll return to Santa Marta and check into our hotel.

DAY 16:

From Santa Marta to Cartagena – history and charm of the Caribbean

 

After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to Santa Marta and begin our road trip to Cartagena de Indias. Along the way, we'll travel along the Colombian Caribbean coast, passing through tropical landscapes and various towns in the region until we reach one of the most fascinating and colorful cities in Latin America.

 

After arriving in Cartagena and checking into the hotel, we will begin a city tour in the afternoon to discover the history and extraordinary heritage of this UNESCO World Heritage city. We will visit some of its most emblematic sites, including the imposing San Felipe de Barajas Castle, one of the largest fortresses built by the Spanish in the Americas.

 

We'll continue to the Walled City, where we'll explore its charming colonial streets, lively plazas, historic churches, and elegant mansions with flower-covered wooden balconies. We'll also discover the authentic and colorful atmosphere of the traditional Getsemaní neighborhood, famous for its street art and vibrant local scene.

 

At the end of the visit, we will return to the hotel. Free time to enjoy the magical atmosphere of Cartagena at dusk, when its walls, squares, and colonial streets are illuminated and the Caribbean breeze envelops the city.

Rosario Islands - the Caribbean paradise (optional)

 

Free day to enjoy Cartagena de Indias at your own pace or optionally participate in an excursion to the paradisiacal Rosario Islands, a beautiful archipelago located in the Caribbean Sea.

 

Those who choose this excursion will sail from Cartagena to turquoise waters, small tropical islands, and white-sand beaches surrounded by lush vegetation. During the day, there will be time to relax by the sea, swim in the warm Caribbean waters, and soak up the tropical atmosphere. Depending on the excursion selected, additional activities such as snorkeling and exploring the area's rich marine life may be available.

 

Those who prefer to stay in Cartagena will have the day free to rest, stroll through the streets of the Walled City, explore the colorful squares and corners of Getsemaní, enjoy the local cuisine, go shopping or simply relax on a terrace and let yourself be enveloped by the unmistakable Caribbean atmosphere.
