DAY 1:

Arrival in Bogotá and transfer to your hotel

 

Upon arrival in Bogotá, the vibrant capital of Colombia located 2,640 meters above sea level, you will be greeted by our local guide. A private transfer to your hotel will then be provided, along with check-in and some time to relax after your long flight. Depending on your arrival time, you can begin exploring the atmosphere of this fascinating city, where colonial history blends seamlessly with modernity and Colombian culture.

DAY 2:

City tour of Bogotá

 

After breakfast, we'll discover Bogotá's main attractions with our guide. We'll explore the historic La Candelaria neighborhood, with its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial facades, and plazas steeped in history. We'll visit the famous Gold Museum and take the cable car or funicular up Monserrate Hill, where we'll enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the capital. Since it's Sunday, we'll also experience the unique atmosphere of the traditional Ciclovía, when many of the main avenues are closed to traffic and filled with pedestrians, cyclists, and cultural activities.

DAY 3:

From Bogotá to Villa de Leyva: salt, colors and colonial charm

 

After breakfast, we'll depart Bogotá for Zipaquirá, crossing the verdant landscapes of the Colombian highlands. Our first stop will be the spectacular Salt Cathedral, one of Colombia's most remarkable landmarks. We'll descend into an old mine to explore its tunnels and vast underground chambers, where sculptures, crosses, and lighting effects create a unique atmosphere.

 

We'll continue on to Ráquira, a picturesque town known as the artisan capital of Colombia. We'll stroll among its colorful facades, workshops, and small shops brimming with ceramics and traditional crafts, discovering a pottery tradition passed down through generations.

 

In the afternoon, we'll continue our journey to Villa de Leyva, one of the best-preserved and most charming colonial towns in the country. Its cobblestone streets, white houses with wooden balconies, and the impressive Plaza Mayor will transport you to another era. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in and enjoy free time to soak up the tranquil atmosphere of this gem in the Colombian Andes.

DAY 4:

Villa de Leyva: history, fossils and Andean landscapes

 

After breakfast, we'll spend the day exploring Villa de Leyva and its surroundings. We'll begin with a pleasant stroll through its historic center, wandering along cobblestone streets, past colonial houses with white facades, and the impressive Plaza Mayor, one of the largest squares in South America.

 

We will continue to the El Fósil Museum, where we will learn about the region's extraordinary paleontological heritage and see an impressive marine reptile fossil discovered here. Afterwards, we will visit Pozos Azules, a series of small lagoons with intense blue and green hues, surrounded by the semi-desert landscape characteristic of the area.

 

We'll conclude with a visit to Casa Terracota, a stunning building constructed almost entirely of clay, considered one of Colombia's most unique architectural works. Return to Villa de Leyva and free time to enjoy its cafes, artisan shops, and charming colonial atmosphere.

DAY 5:

From Villa de Leyva to Barichara: along the roads of colonial Colombia

 

After breakfast, we'll leave Villa de Leyva and continue our journey to Santander, passing through beautiful mountain landscapes, small towns, and rural areas that showcase the most traditional side of Colombia. During the trip, we'll see how the landscape changes as we delve deeper into this spectacular Andean region.

 

We will continue to Barichara, considered one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia. Upon arrival, we will discover its tranquil cobblestone streets, white houses with clay tile roofs, colonial churches, and viewpoints with magnificent views over the mountains and the Suárez River valley. Transfer to the hotel, check-in, and free time to begin enjoying the serenity and charm of this extraordinary town.

DAY 6:

Barichara and Camino Real: between colonial towns and Andean landscapes

 

After breakfast, we'll explore Barichara, considered one of the most beautiful and best-preserved towns in Colombia. We'll stroll along its cobblestone streets, admiring the white colonial-style houses, small plazas, churches, and artisan workshops, and enjoying the magnificent viewpoints overlooking the Santander mountains.

 

Next, we'll begin our hike along the historic Camino Real, an old cobblestone path that winds through the spectacular Andean landscape and connects Barichara with the small town of Guane. During the walk, we'll enjoy the tranquility of the countryside, the lush vegetation, and the breathtaking views over the Suárez River valley.

 

Upon arriving in Guane, we'll have time to explore this peaceful colonial town, visit its main square, and discover the history and traditions of the region. Afterward, we'll return to Barichara, where you'll have free time to continue enjoying its tranquil and authentic atmosphere.

DAY 7:

From Chicamocha Canyon to Bogotá: flying over the heart of Colombia

 

After breakfast, we'll leave Barichara and continue our journey towards one of Santander's most breathtaking natural landscapes: the Chicamocha Canyon. The road will take us through mountains and deep valleys until we reach this spectacular scenery, carved over millions of years by the Chicamocha River.

 

We will visit Chicamocha National Park, where we will contemplate the immensity of the canyon and the surrounding mountains from its viewpoints. We will also enjoy an exciting cable car ride, crossing the canyon from above and admiring unforgettable panoramic views.

 

After the visit, we will continue by road to Bucaramanga. At the designated time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bogotá. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in. Enjoy your last night in Colombia, perfect for relaxing and reflecting on the unforgettable moments of this fascinating journey through the heart of the country.

DAY 8:

See you soon, Colombia

 

After breakfast, and depending on our flight schedule, we'll have free time to enjoy our last moments in Bogotá. At the designated time, we'll have a private transfer from the hotel to El Dorado International Airport for our return flight.

 

Our services have come to an end, and we bid farewell to Colombia after an unforgettable journey through colonial towns, Andean landscapes, local traditions, and some of the country's most fascinating corners. See you soon, Colombia!
